[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the port of Fort Williams the jellyfish were swimming just under the surface. So it was possible to take pictures with admissible sharpness - i hope.

From Wiki:
Aurelia aurita (also called the moon jelly, moon jellyfish, common jellyfish, or saucer jelly) is a widely studied species of the genus Aurelia.[1] All species in the genus are closely related, and it is difficult to identify Aurelia medusae without genetic sampling; most of what follows applies equally to all species of the genus.
The jellyfish is translucent, usually about 25–40 cm (10–16 in) in diameter, and can be recognized by its four horseshoe-shaped gonads, easily seen through the top of the bell. It feeds by collecting medusae, plankton, and mollusks with its tentacles, and bringing them into its body for digestion. It is capable of only limited motion, and drifts with the current, even when swimming.

Hello Pierre,

Hope life is good. This is indeed a fantastic shot and does not give the impression that you took it from above the surface and not from below. As others have observed, the focus, lighting and the overall details are amazing and impress.Even the fine threads/films appears lovely indeed. Thanks a lot for sharing a super shot, take care,

warm regards/Abid

Hello Pierre,
I would never has guessed that you took this in open water and not from an aquarium. The detail is very sharp, especially the tiny tentacles along it's lower edges. A great shot of a creature not often seen here on TN. TFS.

Hi Pierre,
Superb photo. This is the most common jellyfish species on the Irish coast also, however, I never yet managed to photograph it underwater (although I tried). Great composition, sharpness, details, contrast. Congratulations for this lovely shot.
Kind regards from Irelnd, László
