Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge

With its top-heavy physique, energetic flight, and piercing rattle, the Belted Kingfisher seems to have an air of self-importance as it patrols up and down rivers and shorelines.

It nests in burrows along earthen banks and feeds almost entirely on aquatic prey, diving to catch fish and crayfish with its heavy, straight bill.

These ragged-crested birds are a powdery blue-gray; males have one blue band across the white breast, while females have a blue and a chestnut band.

Hello, the first thing that I try to find the eye as this is human nature that we find the eye first and scroll down to full frame. Here I did the same but it's not very crispy sharp shot there the viewers like to see every feather in focus, the frame is good and we may say it is an effort, TFS.

Hello Alan,
Beautiful Kingfisher. Well captured from such difficult POV. A bit overexposed (white - where direct Sunlight), otherwise well presentation.
Thanks for sharing,
