Hi Trekkers,

Today, on 19th of November 2016, I celebrate my 10-year anniversary on TrekNature.

For this occasion, I post an extra rarity, Bolbitius psittacinus Hauskn., Antonín & Polčák, a species younger than TrekNature itself (described in 2007), and which is only known from a few localities worldwide. This species, although quite poorly known, seems to have a Central European distribution: described from the Czech Republic, and confirmed records also from Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia. Cap color is very variable from green to red (exactly like Hygrocybe psittacina, a much more common, but also very conspicuous species). Living on small debris, litter and sawdust of beech (Fagus silvatica), seems very rare albeit its host is common in Europe.

Of course, this species is popping up for the first time on the pages of TrekNature.

I found this specimen during a mycological conference in the Zemplén Mountains in North-East Hungary. Exsiccate is in my fungarium, ID specification confirmed by László Albert mycologist. On the workshop photo you can see a differently coloured specimen from the same locality.

Tech talk: taken in shutter priority exposure mode, PP: color adjustment, after re-sizing selective sharpening on the cap and noise reduction on the background.

I truly hope I was able to add something extraordinary for the occasion. Thanks for looking and commenting.

Hello Laszlo,
Double congratulations for your 10th anniversary here in TN as well as for the debut of the attractive fungi.
Well captured if we look at its colour as well as its exposure. Although busy, but quite well isolated the fungi from BG. Good work.

Hello László,
Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary here at treknature. Your unique looking mushroom is quite beautiful with its reddish brown cap.The detail is exceptional and I really like the vertical composition. Interesting that it's cap can be either green or red yet it is still the same species. Thank you for sharing this rare species with all of us.
