[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was visiting the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History in Jamestown New York this summer while on Vacation. The institute has many hiking trails and and a wet land pond on their 27 acres in which to view wildlife in their natural habitat.

The way the sun was hitting the wings of this Twelve-spotted Skimmer seemed to illuminate them in a unique way, I had to take the shot.

Hi Ron,just a bit blurred on the left because the diagonal perspective, but a very excellent shot of this dragonfly, the light effect on the wings is amazing, great details on the body too. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hi Ron,
this is very fine picture of a beautiful DF. I like the natural colours and exposure.
Also like the shallow DOF, the insect stands out well from the blurred BG.
Well done, mf.

Hello Ron – Interesting picture of this Libellula pulchella. Excellent, view showing us all the details of the wings and the body. Colours from the libellula properly caught.

Technical achievement

• Acceptable focus on the wings and the body
• Perfect exposure with an appropriate choice of aperture/speed and iso for the flowers
• Perfect depth of field and acceptable sharpness
• Good contrast
• Photography a little bit blurred due to the point of view and, probably, also to the re cropping
• Precise white balance and exact colour rendering
• Good post processing without any excess
• Good background blur giving us a proper perception of the dragonfly.

• Interesting picture showing the wings and their organization; good capture.
• Efficient framing and composition with an appropriate disposition of the subject in diagonal inside the frame.

Thank you for the sharing.

Have a good day.
