Today I am sending a photo from my archive .
I taken this shot, of this mating pair, on old meadow not far from my house.
In the second picture in Workshop is to better see the different color the underside of the wings.
Thank you all for your visit and criticism - this is useful for me. Points (smiling) are not important for me :-)
Regards from a very cold and rainy Czech Republic.

Marbled White (Melanargia galathea)
Czech name: Okáč bojínkový

The Marbled White in Czech republic is a common species, which occurs up to an altitude of about 1800 m. The Marbled White found the sunlit and wet meadows and forest clearings, where growing Dwarf Thistle (Cirsium acaule), thistles, and cornflower which the butterflies feed on nectar. Is widespread on the European continent, North Africa, southern part of Russia (and the Caucasus) and even in Iran and Japan.
Despite its common name, this butterfly is one of the "browns", of the subfamily Satyrinae.
Manifests in their sexual dimorphism, which is well visible on the underside of the wings - the males are white with gray and black tabby and the female wings are yellowish with brown spots. Both males and females are at the bottom of the wings and tiny eyes on the upper side the wings are black with white spots.
Like other members of its subfamily, the larvae feed on various grasses. The full range is unknown, but it is thought that Red Fescue (Festuca rubra) is essential in their diet. Eggs are laid on the wing, or from brief perches on grass stems, and are just sprinkled among the grass stems. Upon hatching, the larvae immediately enter hibernation, and only feed the following spring when the fresh growth occurs. They are a lime green colour, with a dark green line running down the middle of their back. Pupation takes place at ground level in a loose cocoon. Adults emerge in July, and, on a good site, in warm, sunny weather, thousands can be seen gently fluttering amongst the grass heads.
Another nickname for the Marbled White butterfly is the "Marmoress.

Hi Milos,

A beautiful capture of this Marbled White pair. Colors, details and textures are excellent. They stand out so well in this lovely setting with the good background. I think the picture would be even more spectacular if you had cropped out the second flower.
