Scientific name: Delphinium peregrinum
Common Name (English): Larkspur

An erect or spreading, much branched annual. Branches divaricate, glabrous or puberulous. Leaves glaucus, subglabrous or pubescent, the lower shortly petiolate, 3-5 cm long and 4-6 cm wide, and the upper leaves sessile or subsessile, 3-lobed or simple, with linear or linear-lanceolate segments or leaf-blades, 2-3 cm long about the middle of the stem, becoming progressively smaller, and finally bract-like towards the apex. Flowers violet-blue or with the petals white or yellowish towards the base, forming lax or rather dense more or less branched racemes. Folicles 5-8 mm long, connivent, pale brown, glabrous, or thinly hairy. Seeds dull brown, with numerous transverse, membranous scales.

Habitat: Cultivated fields, roadsides, grassy steppes and stony hillsides. Common in the lowlands of Cyprus.
Altitude: Sea level to 1000 m.
Flowering: April-July
