Hello my Friends!
After a few days of break today another picture presenting a part of nature observed by my during my last trips. This time a creature from a little much more exotic area – Northern Africa :>

This is a male of Pied ground beetle Graphipterus serrator (Coleoptera: Carabidae) (sometimes known as Graphoterus serrator which is its junior synonim).

And here are some basic facts about this species:

Distribution: Eastern part of Northern Africa to Israel

Size: 20-25mm

Habitat: desert areas with sandy soil

Body colouration: black and white colour patterns are very characteristic for this species.

Activity: unlike most of Carabidae species it is active during day; all year but especially abundant during spring period

Food preferences:predator hunting on smaller insects and other arthropods.

Thank you in advance for your visits and comments! :>

Hello Radomir,
Fantastic capture of this beautiful Carabidae. The colours and details are amazing, including the mouth of this predator. It remind me the Cicindela hybrida but with very different colours. Cheers,

Hi Radomir,
This is first class macro with excellent sharpness, details and splendid colors.TFS.

A beautiful carabid from the best possible perspective Radomir, couldn't even imagine where the tripod was placed in this ants-eye-view image, but the chosen aperture was flawless since every point of the bug was in sharp focus but not the BG. Thank you indeed my friend, for sharing this fine image with us.

Ciao Radomir, beautiful beg, I never see before, thanks, splendid sharpness and fine details, very well done my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Radomir
very interesting insect with beautiful black and white colors, wonderful POV and remarkable sharp details, great luminosity
The sand in the BG highlight this Pied ground beetle very well
Have a good night

Hallo Radomir
What a beautiful beetle is this male Pied ground beetle. Its features are prominent and well seen, and the patterns on the body almost look as if they were painted by hand. Details are well seen and interesting to look at, especially the big eyes and the white hairs on the underneath the body. I very much like the sand that serves as ideal backdrop as well as perfect frame around this black and white beauty. Thanks for sharing. Best regards. Anna.
