Yesterday i caught a cold...and its a cold i feel best about. I mean i don't have ANY regret that i got it.

I went with some friends up in the mountains - they to ski and i to take photos. After we saw the beautiful conditions from the top of the skiing slope, we decided that we would go together through the forest and out on the other side of the mountains where we know there is an opening. Once there, everything was so quiet and untouched that we decided to head up to the top, to a nice view point above the entire scenery. However, since the snow was absolutely huge (went way higher than out waist in some places) and not icy enough, we simply couldn't reach out destination before sunset. It's a shame...it would have been spectacular.

Even so, i'm not all that upset since along our way i saw one of the most beautiful landscapes (and i'm talking in general...not a single picture) i've ever seen: it was completely quiet, no wind at all, not a cloud in the sky, clearest air, completely untouched snow (no path or anything) and just the sun shining through the trees and making all the snow and ice on them glitter from every angle...something that is way beyond what i can catch in a photo. It's hard to describe, really.
That's how nature should look like!

Hope you'll like it and thanks for visiting.

Hello Horia,
A great title for an image that shines with cleaness and clarity!
The use of the light and the pattern of light and shade is what this is about apart from the clear sky and the clean snow.
The exposure against the sun is spot on so that the details of the spruces can be seen againt the light.
A superb shot taken with professional management of your equipment.
Nice to view and TFS it.
Have a good weekend my friend,
Cheers,
Ivan

Buna Horia,
Fantastic scene, awesome view of the "virgin" snow and the pines in return light. Both technically and composition-wise a top-notch image, I only have to say bravo! Absolutely superb image. Tfs.
Best regards, László

Hello dear friend Horia,
Nice to see this beauty through your eyes and lenses.
Thanks to show us this amazing and indeed landscape.
Have a nice weekend.
See you,
Francisco

Buna Horia,
Excelent surprins acest peisaj. Albul e alb si zapada nu are obisnuitele tente de albastru datorate reflexiei cerului. Fiind realizata in contralumina unii ar putea interpreta gresit umbrele pe zapada. Imi place cum lucreaza acest obiectiv. Claritatea si detaliile sunt nemaipomenite. Un weekend placut!
Marius.

Hi Horia,

This is what we used to call virgin snow! How perfect it is - untouched by man, animal or machine. The reflections of the trees on the white snow are magnificent. An absolutely beautiful scene - well worth a head cold.

Hi Horia

I just like it. The late afternoon sun caused lovely long shadows that covered the snowy
area in front and because of the great exposure control and excellent contrasts one can
really see all the details in the snow. This actually draws the eye initially and then it goes
deeper into the image to discover the ice covered row of trees and the cloudless and clear
blue sky. Great colour rendition and amazing sharp details from the f/14 aperture and wide
DOF.

Good work and TFS.
Take care and have a great weekend.
Regards
Loot

PS. Sorry to hear of your cold and I hope you're better soon.

Hello Horia,
A photo in fantastic light. The sun gives very beautiful long shadows over the snow. Excellent sharpness, details, POV and composition.

Hi Horia!

Here is an event but I didn't understand what happened. Last night I wrote a long critique for this wonderful shot. And I added into my favorites. But this morning when I looked at the site, I saw that it disappeared!

I admire the light in this photo. Very nice scene and quite beautiful. I like it. Even I fall in love with this panaroma. Bravo and thank you very much for sharing. I envy you, tomorrow I'm going to Uldug to capture some snow landscapes like this. :)

W,th my best regards
Fevzi

Absoluetly beautiful Horia! You have a fantastic eye for landscape something I would like to acquire, hopefully through time. The light a shadows work hand in hand and gives the viewer a pleasurable journey.

Hi horia,

Lovely light captured here with great clean details. I love the elongated shadows, and the feeling of unspoilt nature really comes through.

It would be nice if there was something going on in the sky, but you cant have it all, well rarely anyway!

Ewan

Hi Horia,
This is simple fantastic!
No more else to say, just when everything in a pic seduces your eye and mind.
Love so much the radial beams of light on the snow and the texture it reveals thanks to that smooth irregular shadows.
So good you stopped by and pressed the shutter!
My compliments and thanks a lot for share.
Warm regards,
JM
