This is a male cardinal. There is alot writen up about him on this site.

I was standing at the window again capturing the the Redpolls feeding. I noticed a flash, and then appeared a familiar site, a tail of a male Cardinal.
Just to let you know, these birds are very skiddish even when you are 20ft or more from them as some of you know.
I'm standing aprox 6ft from the feeder, wearing a forest green sweat shirt and black pants. Patience, patience and patience for Mr C. to make his way around. Well, he did, he poked his head around feeding on the seed.

Those of us who have not a DSLR, do not have the oportunity to capture birds at a distance. We need to be close in order to get something descent, even if we have a 10x. So please understand what we have to go through to upload images for your viewing pleasure. It's not easy.

About the POV, I'm standing in the best posible position.
About the background, ignore it, cause it's not the subject of interest, read POV.
About the DOF, I think it's pretty good.
About the Quality, It's not a DSLR.
About the composition, it's pretty good.
If you can't see the body, he's at the feeder, read note again and read why? LOL
The green is distracting, well, it's a feeder. LOL

In photoshop elements, cropped, slight adjustment of the midtone in levels, resized for web and saved as jpeg. neat image in the background.

Hi Mike, nice shot and great title but I feel it is a little soft in focus. Good work.

Hi Mike!
As others said focus is soft. But bird itself is real cute. Good composition and pose of this red punk :-)

Very nice Mike, I know how skiddish they can be I've been trying to get a shot of a male for about a week now but it's too damn cold to leave the sliding glass door open. As soon as I open it he's gone. It looks like his beak has seen some rough times.

Mike, this is nice. These birds are very beautiful. I guess we don't have them here.

Cool capture, great composition and pov.

Hi Mike
Nice note and we do appreciate your suffering to bring us this pffering, but it is a type of "nice to suffer" experience, IF you manage to nail one of the ellusive guys. A neat mug shot, gleam in the eye & one can even spot his breakfast on the bill

It's a great photo of a beautiful subject, even though your focus point is about an inch too short! Not easy, like you say, on such a shy subject.
