The Portuguese arrived in Brazil in 1500. They are officially considered the people who discovered the country. When they arrived, they reached a place called “Porto Seguro” (Safe Haven), for the place offered great conditions to the Portuguese fleet at the time.

Today, Porto Seguro has around 130,000 inhabitants. According to the locals I talked to, tourism is an activity that takes place all over the year. Of course, in summer the vibration is bigger, as well as during carnival.

One of the things I like the most in Porto Seguro is this: there are beaches to those who enjoy crowds and like action and to those who prefer a calm atmosphere. If one wants a quiet beach, he/she can go to the beaches in Arraial D'Ajuda, for example, a village right beside Porto Seguro. If one wants Axé Music (a very popular rhythm in Brazil) and people all around, the right choice are the beaches in Porto Seguro.

Hi Livio

This is not a regular sight in your gallery, but one definitely original and very refreshing.
The details and look of the leaves of this lovely palmtree are terrific and they look excellent on that BG.
Also, the shapes of the clods - particularly their gradual size increase (or decrease...depends on where you look first) - are fantastic and add a lot to the composition.
A very nice history lesson in your note, too. A good read.

Bravo and TFS

Hi Livio,

This is so unusual for you! It is so beautiful in its simplicity that it is eye catching. I love the blowing palm tree and the composition with those wonderful clouds is awesome. Wonderful photo!

Hola Livio,
Muy bonita se ve la foto con la palmera dividiendo en dos partes el cielo y en una de ellas esas nubes redondeadas.
Un delicado trabajo.

Hello Livio

This shot is beautiful. The sky is beautiful and the lush tropical trees are wonderful. The POV you chose is interesting.I noticed this was taken Jan.14th.Right about the time when it got really cold here.I can see why it is known as "safe haven".TFS

Hi Livio,
That sky really made this a stunning photo. All the little clouds gave it a wonderful effect. Wonderful combination of colors. The wind made the photo almost come alive.

Next time you go if you need someone to carry your bags let me know. ;) Excellent view, seems to have been a blustery yet beautiful day.

Hi Livio,
A very interesting capture!
I like a lot the clouds formations, it seems like and effect got with a "cloud brush" in airbrushing.
Great the composition made and the inclination of it.
I found so interesting the info in your note.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,

Hi Livio,
Great sky filled with a nice pattern of cumulous clouds..From this POV, the palm trees seems to kiss the clouds. :)
