Bottlenose dolphins are common around the coasts of New Zealand, but the pod living in Doubtful Sound in the Fiordland National Park are said to be a little larger then others due to the cooler water temperatures. They are also the most southerly pod of dolphins. This one, along with others in his group, put on a spectacular display around our boat for some time. As a final farewell, three leapt up in unison alongside the boat, but by then we had all taken lots of pictures & missed this parting gesture - goes to show, one should alsways have a camera ready!!
