|One of the locals ( a King Parrot ) at Bunya Mountains National Park in Southeast Queensland. |
This is a male - the females don't have the scarlet head, although they do have duller patches of it on their stomachs.
These are wild birds that have become used to getting handouts from bushwalkers and campers.
Not Camera shy.
btw, Hi everyone, new here.

Welcome to TN. Nice and sharp portrait of this parrot. The red shows of well against the green BG, unfortunately the green on the body disappears slightly. Info about the bird would be appreciated as the aim of this site is to learn about nature.
Hope to see a lot more photos from you.

Hi Tim. Welcome to TN. This is an excellent very clear close up. The detail is better than many birds by amatures like us. Excellent beginnings. Murray.

Wow, what a stunning first post.
Details are super sharp, and the colors just pop right out at you.
An interesting parrot with unusual color patterns.
A real beaut!
