[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the Australian Pelican Pelecanus conspicillatus.
"Pelicans breed throughout Australia on lakes and swamps, fresh or briny. They congregate at isles where mature birds - at least four years old - develop red courtship colours on the bill. These colours fade quickly after pairing. The birds use their great bill in display, raising it, swinging and rippling its pouch, and throwing and catching objects. In threat, they thrust it forwards, head down and pouch bulging, snapping it open and shut."

Perfect Shot Claudia and nice framing.
the picture is just great.
regards,
John

Hi Claudia, very nice capture and good control on the white plumage showing nice details. With a little PP work you could easily brighten up the BG and black plumage without harming the whites. Composition would be better IMO if less centered which is usually the case. Very nice work, well done.

Beautiful shot Claudi. Excellent color, sharpness and exposure. Great details. I think Stephen has made some excellent suggestions. Very well done & Thank you.

Hi Claudia
Lovely post here. Well composed with the beak extending on an angle into the foreground. Well exposed too.
Regards Toni

Wonderful POV of this Australian pelican. Our white pelicans do not have the black on the wings. Great details and good light. Well done, Claudia, and TFS. : )

Hello Claudia,
A really nice post. I always feel that my pictures of Pelicans seem to be too soft around their eyes. Although your post is much better, than any of mine - I feel the same here. I'd better visit a doc?! Thomas

Hi Claudia,
What a great looking bird. The colors and detail look very good to me. I love those eyes! Great shot.
Scott

Nice detail and excellent control over the exposure, the whites are nice and clean with highlights.

I appreciate this beautiful and interesting shot ! Congratulations Claudia and thanks for sharing.
PS : the raison of my too short comment is on the forum...

Hello Claudia,

What a great pelican you got there! Its pose is magnific and I like very much your pov and composition. You managed the exposition very well in order to see the different tones of white correctly! Colors looks very natural too! I did a little workshop on your so nice picture in order to add some sharpness. Here in Quebec, we don't have pelicans. In fact, usually we don't have but this summer one Brown Pelican was seen along the St-Lawrence River and all the local ornithologist are running to see it :-). Great work and TFS,

Michel
