Wow, doug... What a glorious capture.
I have a love affair with sandhill cranes, and every year I attend the Sandhill Crane Festival a couple of hours from my hometown, in hope of getting a good shot of these magnificent birds. I don't get nearly close enough to get anything decent.
I just love this picture: the composition, the pose, the clarity, the colors.

You did yourself proud with this closeup of the Sandhill Crane with the short zoom lens. Great detail and action shot of a normal shy bird.

Supeb shot. The lighting is great and the detail here is outstanding. The colour of the water really helps bring out the colour of the crane.
I am off for my Christmas break soon - New Zealand and then Japan where I am going to try to photograph the cranes in Kyushu and Hokkaido.

Hi Doug, this is an amazing catch of this lovely Crane. Perfect action moment and pov with the wings in their full glory - it must have been a cold landing! The Crane is well exposed with good detail and sharpness throughout. Good colour tones and a dynamic compostiion.

Hi Doug, very nice capture of this natural action by this Sandhill Crane, breaking through the ice. Your timing was excellent to catch the break, and those wings being raised, probably in panic. You have great detail on the bird, with very good natural looking colour throughout.

This is a beautiful ballerina! :) Everything looks great in this image: details, colors, exposure, composition and moment caught. This is a nice specie that I didn't have the chance to see often. Well done!

It's so good the moment caught over the small piece of ice.
You had a beautiful light and took good advantage of it.
Got great details on the plumage and on that balancing pose.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
