Kinbane, meaning ‘white headland’ is a little-known jewel in the North Coast of County Antrim which is landlocked by steep cliffs on all sides. Because of the danger of the steep decent its closed off to the public. I jumped a couple of fences and made my way down to this secluded magical and haunting location.

A secluded ruin at the bottom of the steep cliff face commands excellent views of the surrounding coastline.

BTW...
There is an air of peace and solitude at Kinbane but as the light fell I felt it became a little eerie and I made my ascent. A search on the internet reveals that near the castle is a hollow known as 'Lag na Sassenach' (Hollow of the English). It was here during the 1500s that a garrison of English soldiers laying siege to the castle were surrounded and massacred. It is believed that their souls are trapped in this place.

Hi Stephen.
A great sea/landscape, with beautiful light very well captured. Your use of exposure-time is, imo thankfully, not overdone, allowing the movement of the waves to be captured (as against the artificial, featureless porridge moving water becomes if exposed for a very long time :)
Composition is very strong, and the note adds considerably to the mood of the image.
Very well done.
regards,
Sheldon (shel)

Absolutely magnificent these ruins on this small ground surrounded by the sea.
Colors are excellent. A good time exposure too.
Bravo ! This lens 10-22 gives me envy... ;-)
Nico.

Hi Stephen,

Excellent landscape/seascape shot. Well done on the composition. A beautiful view.
I would have graduated to the horizon line or gone for the angle graduation to the rocks, which would be almost 45 degrees from top left down to rocks just covering the island. IMO.

I like the the timming/speed on this one, excellent work.

Mike

Magical view with geat note. I like the beat of the waves frozen in stones. Thank you for a little-known jewel in the North Coast of County Antrim.

Pro exposure ! Tripod and patience was everything I would say aside from your vision of course !

Quelle belle présentation, la prise de vue avec les roches à l'avant plan et le flou des vagues à base vitesse en font une superbe composition. L'effet aussi di filtre cokin tobacco rehause le tout.

Félicitations je droit l'envoyer à mes favorite.

HI Stephen,
Wow a great shot.
Fantastic DOF from the foreground to the castle.
I love the slow shutte speed you have used it captures the movement of the water well.
Great perspective looking along the rocks.
