Taken in the garden at home on Boxing day. This Robin spends most of the day chasing the other birds away. Until ten or more Long Tailed Tit came down and he just gave up and watched them .

Robin ( Erithacus rubecula ) Length 14cm.
The Robin is one of the most familiar and popular garden Birds of all. The Robin is an aggressive species with the males sometimes fighting to the death to defend their territory.
The male and female are almost identical with brown crown, wings, upperparts and tail, a grey band along the sides of the breast, white belly and the famous red breast which is actually a deep orange colour. Juvenile Birds can cause confusion as they lack red in their plumage, being a rather dull spotty brown in colour.
Robins sing all year round, defending summer and winter territories with their fluty melodic song.
The Robin can be found in almost every garden as it is one of the tamest Birds, happily feeding alongside humans as they work. They will often take live food such as Earthworms or Mealworms from the hand.
Breeds from March to August building a cup shaped nest from grass and leaves lined with hair. Lays 4-6 pale blue-white eggs lightly spotted with red and incubates for 13-15 days. The young fledge after 12-14 days. They often have two broods

Hello Nick,
It's fun to see these little fellows chasing away other birds. A family of ten is a lot of course...

Hi Nick,
Great capture of this Robin. From the impression in his face we can tell that he has just been a naughty and seems to be challenging the photographer as well. Great sharpness of details, composition, POV and beautiful colours.

Hallo Nicholas
A great capture of this very popular bird we often see on the gallery. A very good close approach, showing clear and sharp details on the plumage and eye. A truly sensational and beautiful bird, the orange colour of the chest plumage almost glowing with warmth. Great in sharpness, lighting, focus and overall presentation. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards

Hello Nick,
It's not easy to come with another Robin. It should be of a great class to make any impression. And you fixed it. Not only by the superb bird itself, but also through the amazing BG.
The curious look is so beautiful with the head a little bit turned. Excellent technical quality!

Colors, light, focus, quality... What else!?

VERY richly saturated...but in a natural way and perhaps a way I have not seen done much before...I like it like this speaking for myself of course Nick. It gives a very different approach to your Robins...

I love that lovely soft warm background that sets your robin off nicely. The toning colors are lovely and unify the image. I like the simple composition and that curved branch. The light and sharpness are really nice.

You can do what you want with your model (and your equipment. Bravo. Outstanding three-dimensional picture of a fine robin. We can study all wonderful features of the bird. Details are fantastic. I also like great rich colours which are produced by your camera and stunning lens. My kind regards and TFS.

piękny ptak i super zdjęcie. Światło jest miękkie i cudownie podkreśla barwy upierzenia. Widać, że wiatr był dość silny i Rudzik balansuje aby utrzymać równowagę. Udało ci się zatrzymać ten moment. Bardzo dobra głębia ostrości.
TFS and best wishes

Una captura en parte diferente a tus tomas habituales pero como siempre bien realizada técnicamente. No se como puedes conseguir siempre ese enfoque tan logrado en el plumaje.

Hello Nick,
A great view of this 'stroppy' Robin! Lovely and very sharp details and beautiful warm colours. Our Robin is so shy and tends to hide and come out when other birds are gone! He's just learnt to balance on the bird feeder - great to watch.

Hello Nicholas,
A very special shot of the Robin! I like the oblique way the bird is perched on the branch, makes the picture very original. Nice also to see the wind in the feathers..
Beautiful harmonious colors too. A beautiful shot!

Hi Nick

This one looks almost territorial, I think he is eyeing up this other male who has invaded his space. I was taking some frost shots the other day and turned round to find a robin sitting on my tripod :-)

Lovely clarity, colours, POV and DOF. Wonderful details in the eye and feather. I love the ruffled feathers on the side. Lovely

Hello Nick,
This little Robin is really nice. The colors are splendid, with a great deep background and so much details. I wish I could take such shots one day. What I like the most is the clear aggressive attitude of the bird, posted to guard his territory. Best regards,

I like this one too, the details are great and more than this, the colors with the BG really suits together !
