[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We took a trip down to Samphire Hoe yesterday to see if the Early Spider Orchids (ophrys sphegodes) had started flowering, and sure enough quite a few plants were in bloom.

Samphire Hoe sits at the bottom of the white cliffs near Dover and is a man-made part of Kent, made from 4.9 million cubic metres of chalk marl dug to create the Channel Tunnel. It is now a country park open to the public, and has the largest population of Early Spider Orchids in the country. The orchids colonised naturally from the surrounding cliff tops and spread rapidly on the newly created land, helped by the lack of competition from other vegetation.

In Britain the Early Spider Orchid is scarce, restricted to the south coast from Dorset to Kent, but can be locally common in a few favourable areas. The flowers are pollinated by the male solitary bee Andrena nigroaenea.

Bonjour Steve,
Agréable macro mettant relativement bien le sujet en valeur malgré une profondeur de champ qui n'est pas optimale.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
