Brimstone (gonepteryx rhamni)
The Brimstone is the butterfly credited with the invention of the common English term for all Lepidoptera: its yellow colouring originally earning it the name 'butter-coloured fly'.
Wingspan: 6cm
Habitat: Woodland edges, flowery grassland, meadows, gardens and fenland
Range: Europe, from Britain down towards the Mediterranean
Status: Generally common

I saw this one at King's Hat in the New Forest today, I must have got 20 shots and it never moved an inch. I usually shoot with a Canon 40d but the family got a Pentax x90 superzoom so I took it out for a spin today. Thanks for looking, any comments are welcome, I am here to learn

Excellent clear contrasting colours against the darker background. Very sharp and taken from a pleasing point of view in a good composition.
