Hi friends,

Last weekend was very rainy in Ireland (although I managed to get a few dry hours in Sunday on the seaside), and this one won't be better either. So, a photo from my huge archives. As I miss butterflies a lot, an image of Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae L.), which species seems very common in the Irish isle.

Photo: taken near Cork City, in the Curraheen riverside. ISO 200, f/4.5, 1/1300 sec. in shutter priority exposure mode. No PP at all except for re-sizing / re-sharpening.

The shrub on the pic is Summer Lilac (Buddleja davidii Franch.), AKA "butterfly-bush" - in spite of the pretty-sounding names it's an invasive alien species in Ireland, rapidly spreading in riparian habitats.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Laszlo.Of course having a Buddleja is a huge advantage, butterflies become crazy about the nectar of these plants and it is very easy to photograph them. In fact, I have been sowing them for 3 years in the garden of a friend of mine, and every year they die..hahaha .. beautiful memory from your archive, the quality is exceptional, this butterfly is one of the first to appear in my fields, maybe I can already see her in the next few days. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Ciao Laszlo, great macro of fantastic butterfly, wonderful bright colors, splendid sharpness and fine details, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio
