[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Dear Trekkers,

On every 1st of January I traditionally post an image of a species which is new on TrekNature - but this time I made an exception as I uploaded a photo which was taken at that day. So, a week later, here it is: a new species on TN, at least I didn't find any image of it after searching.

Russula queletii Fr., the Fruity Brittlegill is a rather rare species in the spruce forests of Europe and North America, but relatively easily distinguishable from the other similar species of the genus due to the habitat (mycorrhizal with spruce {Picea sp.} exclusively), purplish cap color, white gills, fruity odour (similar to gooseberry {Ribes uva-crispa}) and very hot taste. This was the 1st time when I managed to make an, in my opinion, useful photo of it.

Photo: taken on my trip to Hungary last September, with my old HP compact, shutter priority exposure mode with flash on. PP was just a slight level adjustment and increasing highlights a bit in highlights/shadows.

Thanks for looking and reading.

Hello Laszlo, Congratulations on a new species!
Superb close up image of this fine looking mushroom, I have seen similar ones here in Ohio. The vertical framing works out perfectly in this instance. Tac sharp focus revealing much detail and beautiful color tones. Great use of flash and presented from an attractive low POV.
Well done!!

Hello László

Happy and Healthy New Year 2017.

Congratulations for this new species of fungi, beautiful photo, with fine POV
and appropriate vertical framing, excellent focus, sharpness, and details, TFS

Bela captura, Excelente luz artificial trabalhada na noite. Cores perfeitas!

Hi Laszlo,
I don't comment on your postings but I admire your work, the many fungi species you present us like this Russula (never heard of that one before ...)
Thanks for your nice words. I will not contribute regularly since I have not enough material to show to the admired group of TN experts.
Sincerely, Dietrich
