[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A male Mongolian gazelle (Procapra gutturosa) mid stride. These gazelles inhabit large regions of the eastern Mongolian steppe and a sliver of Russia. They once ranged more widely into China and across much of Mongolia and southern Russia but have succumbed mostly to hunting pressures.

They move nomadically throughout the steppe without adhering to fixed migratory patterns and can cover immense distances each year.

Most of the groups I encountered during a short 3 week research trip consisted of 20-100 individuals, but several groups of >300 were seen and one of ~15,000 was spotted. The largest recorded congregation of these animals in one place was estimated at over 200,000 in September 2007(Olsen et. al, 2009)
