I found this Hawksbill turtle while snorkeling around a very tiny secluded Island in the Seychelles called Cocos. I was able to get a boat ride out there while volunteering with the rangers on the island of Curieuse.
The Seychelles is a small island nation located in the Indian Ocean northeast of Madagascar and about 1,600 km (1,000 miles) east of Kenya. The number of islands in the archipelago is often given as 115 but the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles lists 155.
As you can see in this photo - the Seychelles had a lot of damage to the coral from coral bleaching - when the weather got to hot.
I stayed on the island of Mahé for most of the summer of 2006, doing marine conservation work. But also stayed on Curieuse for a week. The scenery was beautiful & the diving was incredible! |

A good capture of a beautiful turtle Margo, the shallow water made a good illumination possible. TFS.
